Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, who maintain the Castle site on behalf of the owner, Nevern Community Council, have sent an update on recent and planned work at the Castle.
Planned for early 2025:
- Clearing trees brought down by the recent storm. Smaller storm debris has already been cleared from the paths.
Some trees on the southern slope were previously scheduled to be felled, and this work has been completed. - Repairs to the damaged steps from the rock-cut ditch to the bailey.
- Create hard standing around the main entrance gate, which currently gets rutted and muddy when people park there.
- Replacement of fencing on the site.
- Preparation of a scrub management plan to ensure the site doesn’t become overgrown in the summer months.
Update March 2025
The above work has been done, and the site is now looking a bit smarter. Fencing repaired, trees out of the way of the paths, and the steps down to the rock-cut ditch have been fitted with renewed risers.
